Chairman elect
Andrew McIlwraith - Public Interest
Andrew has a degree in architecture, but his career has been in journalism and consumer affairs.
He worked for many years at Which?, and before that at the Australian Consumers' Association.
For the past ten years he has been a freelance writer, editor and consultant specialising
in consumer affairs and consumer advice.

Jenny Crook - Public Interest
A Sociology graduate from London School of Economics and Political Science, Jenny has worked for many years in social
housing, has always taken an interest in consumer affairs and is currently a regional committee member of Postwatch –
the consumer body for postal affairs. She is also a lay magistrate specialising in the work of the youth and family courts.
Dr Peter Williams - Public Interest
Previously Deputy Director General of the Council of Mortgage Lenders, Peter is a consultant working in the areas of
housing finance, markets and policy. He has undertaken assignments for lenders, trade associations and service providers,
central and local government and academic institutions and currently provides contracted services to the Intermediary
Mortgage Lenders Association (as Executive Director), Acadametrics (the FT House Price Index) and is a Board Member of
the Government’s National Housing and Planning Advice Unit, Stonehaven UK Ltd and Consult CIH and Chairman of Thames
Valley Housing Association.
Mark Jarvis - Industry Representative
Mark has almost 30 years operational management experience within the water industry and is currently the General Manager of Severn Trent Retail
and Utility Services Ltd – the provider of Severn Trent Searches into the property market. These roles have provided Mark with an extensive
knowledge of customer service matters and managing a business in a regulated environment. As well as a first degree in Applied Chemistry,
Mark also holds a Masters in Environmental Quality Management and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management.
Alan Thorogood - Industry Representative
Alan has over 15 years experience in the legal search industry. He has been CEO of STL Group plc – the largest independent search provider in
the UK - since 2003. STL was one of the pioneers of personal local authority searches and the "one stop shop" concept of offering all
property searches, land registry documents and indemnities from a single provider. As a founder member of COPSO, Alan has been involved
with the Search Code since its inception. Alan holds a degree in Biology, a Masters in Landscape Design and is also a member of ILEX.
